A banking and finance lawyer with 15 years experience in both private practice and as senior in-house counsel for major FTSE 200 companies.
Mark works with companies in a broad range of sectors, with particular focus on pharmaceuticals, energy and transport as well as for financial institutions. The majority of his time is spent consulting into large companies who appoint him on a temporary or on-going retainer to provide in-house support for the corporate and finance functions.
Mark acts for national and international businesses who need corporate, commercial or financial legal advice for acquisitions and divestments, international contract bids, corporate and tax restructurings and treasury matters.
Mark also assists those who need help with a one-off deal or transaction, raising finance for a specific project, facilitating a business sale or acquisition, advising on asset-based financing and distressed debt arrangements.
Examples of Mark’s work include:
- closing, within very tight time-frames, two multi-billion-dollar loan agreements used to fund major acquisitions in the pharmaceutical sector;
- lead counsel for a UK transport company in a joint venture to provide the bus network in Bahrain, including extensive negotiations with the government; and
- negotiating on behalf of the seller in a sale of a listed energy company in a deal worth £12.5 billion and subsequent on-sale and power off-take agreements.
