Tom focuses on non-contentious aspects of construction law, drafting, negotiating and reviewing construction contracts and agreements from performance bonds to collateral warranties, finance documents or professional appointments. He routinely advises on bespoke as well as standard JCT, NEC and PPC contracts used for procurement, and has a track record in development projects from £2 million upwards.
Tom acts for developers, funders, landowners, professionals and registered housing providers, and especially blue-chip contractors. Clients include ISG, Henry Boot, Amey, Travelodge, Markey Construction Ltd, Lloyds Bank and City West Housing Trust.
Recent examples of how Tom has helped clients include:
- enabling an Oxford college to proceed in constructing a new science park building;
- advising a fit-out contractor refurbishing a Mayfair hotel on the reduction of project design risks; and
- ensuring the go-ahead on a £400 million mixed-use redevelopment by negotiating a full suite of construction and infrastructure documents, including a bespoke electricity substation contract.
