An expert in regulatory law and inquests.
Zaf advises business owners and directors facing regulatory investigations into serious injuries and fatalities in the workplace, including corporate manslaughter. He also advises on data protection breaches, health and safety or environmental offences and provides guidance on compliance with regulatory obligations.
Providing advice and support throughout the coroners’ court process, Zaf acts on behalf of interested parties when there is an inquest, including Article 2 jury inquests which involve public authorities, such as deaths in care or custody.
Zaf’s clients include government bodies, company directors, insurance companies, charities and individuals.
Recent examples of how Zaf has helped clients include:
- ensuring a not-for-profit healthcare group’s reputation was not affected when it was caught up in an investigation following the death of a prisoner in custody;
- supporting a family through the inquest for their mother who died of sepsis when her condition was not diagnosed in time;
- successfully defending a charity before the Information Commissioner’s Office following an accidental disclosure of sensitive personal data; and
- defending and negotiating on behalf of several companies who did not have employers indemnity insurance in relation to historic claims for industrial deafness and mesothelioma.
