Green light for 185 new homes in Norfolk

Plans to build 185 new homes in Swaffham, Norfolk has had the go ahead thanks to Knights professional services.

Outline planning permission for 185 new houses, including 74 affordable homes, has been secured on behalf of MLN (Land and Properties) Limited following unanimous approval by the local authority planning committee.

Ben Weatherley, partner at Knights’ Staffordshire office said that in-depth engagement with the local planning authority and the local community was key to the success of this planning application.

“At a time when the lack of affordable housing is having an impact of people all over the country, the news of 185 new dwellings - with up to 40 per cent dedicated to affordable housing - will be welcome news for many,” said Ben.

“We worked closely with MLN, members of the project team and the community to address issues raised about sustainability and infrastructure before the application was submitted to satisfy the local planning authority and statutory consultees.”

Mark Murphy, Director of MLN said: “We’re really pleased to have received outline consent for these much-need homes. Everyone has worked very hard to make sure the proposals directly respond to local needs and will contribute to securing a sustainable future for the town.

“Swaffham is exactly the sort of place that will directly benefit from the provision of new homes and infrastructure and we are now looking forward to progressing the scheme and starting on site.”

Ben added: “At Knights we have noticed an increase in landowners approaching us to see if there is the option to develop on their land, 75% of our work in the last four years has been dedicated to this type of work and it has proved to be a lucrative development option for many clients.”

Timescales for the development in Swaffham are yet to be confirmed.
