One year in Derby - Knights snaps up major clients & boosts revenue

One year after Knights Professional Services opened in Derby, the business announces it is now on track to almost double revenue to £40 million by 2017 with the Derby office helping this growth following the recruitment of 32 professionals in just 12 months.

Now with a team of 460 high-calibre professionals from legal and non-law backgrounds across seven regional offices, the firm is living up to its name as the ‘fastest-growing law firm in the UK’.

David Beech, CEO for Knights said the decision to open in Derby was the right one and has helped contribute to this success.

“We’re supporting more businesses in the East Midlands and nationwide, thanks to our full service offering which includes non-law specialist services, alongside our legal expertise,” he said.

“Denby Pottery, Mortgage Advice Bureau, Greenthumb Ltd, Servicemaster and Snappy Snaps (part of the Timpson Group) are just some of the businesses we are now working with. The Derby office is establishing itself well both in the city and across the wider East Midlands,” he said.

Andrew Pilkington, office leader at the Pride Park office said: “It’s been a fantastic year for everyone based here. We have significantly grown our specialist services to include experts in franchising, data protection, banking and tax and estates, as well as strengthening our existing real estate, corporate and commercial, employment and private client teams.

“I’m looking forward to helping Knights to continue to grow our team and our capabilities and to develop long-standing relationships with our new clients, work with more businesses across the region and help to put the city of Derby on the map.

“Unlike many traditional law firms, we have a dedicated client relations team which gathers feedback from existing clients to improve services and provide mentoring to develop the skills of our professionals too.”

David added: “We have attracted some of the Midlands most talented lawyers thanks to the culture we have created which turns the traditional partnership model of a law firm on its head.

“We reward people on merit and everyone at Knights, including our ‘non-legal’ professionals, knows that by working hard and demonstrating their commitment to the firm, that career progression is a reality.

“Our success is testament to the hard work of everyone who works at Knights and we have plans to grow further to become the number one regional professional services business in the UK.”
